In honour of International Women’s Day on March 8th, we’re sharing stories from the amazing women who work on the front lines of our programs, from counsellors to support workers. Every day, they work hard and show great compassion to the brave and resilient women who come through our doors.
“One of the first clients I ‘started’ with (from intake to departure) recently moved out to her second stage housing unit.
It was such an incredible moment for me to watch her achieve so much and have the opportunity to enter a new, safe living environment while starting her new full-time job. The resiliency she showed throughout her time at the house, and her strength and dedication to move forward from her past, was so inspiring to me.
On her move-out day, we all had a chance to say goodbye. She started to tear up, and hugged us all goodbye. She said that she was so grateful for all our support and that she couldn’t have gotten this far without us. Her gratitude, although unnecessary, really validated the good work that we do here, and showcased how crucial our role is when we are supporting these women day-to-day, and how much of an impact we can have as support workers.”
