At Dixon Transition Society, we are deeply committed to supporting women and their children as they move toward safety, independence, and empowerment. This commitment is at the heart of everything we do—and it’s why we are proud to stand with One Billion Rising, the world’s largest global movement to end violence against women, girls, and gender‑expansive people.
The 2026 Theme: “Rise for Our Bodies, Our Earth, Our Future”
The 2026 global theme—Rise for Our Bodies, Our Earth, Our Future—was announced on November 25, 2025, calling on survivors, artists, and activists around the world to rise collectively in the 14th year of the campaign. It imagines a future free from patriarchy, domination, violence, and oppression, and invites us to act with courage, truth, imagination, and solidarity.
The theme recognizes that the fight for safety and bodily autonomy is inseparable from the fight for environmental justice and the future we want to build. This year’s focus emphasizes art‑driven resistance, collective care, and transforming the systems that harm women, gender‑expansive people, and the Earth itself.
Across countries, communities are already rising. In the United States, leaders including V (formerly Eve Ensler) and U.S. Coordinator Taína Asili gathered thousands online to share artistic tools—music, dance, theater, and visual art—to help organizers plan their 2026 Risings for V‑Day, International Women’s Day, and Earth Day.
In Eswatini, the 2026 festival brings students, artists, and activists together through music, poetry, and spoken word to call for justice and an end to gender‑based violence.
Why One Billion Rising Matters
One Billion Rising is more than an event—it is a global expression of solidarity. Each year, millions of people raise their voices to declare that no one, regardless of gender, race, ability, or background, should ever face violence or discrimination.
The movement amplifies the voices of survivors, mobilizes activists, and unites entire communities in the shared work of creating a world where women and children live with dignity, respect, and safety. It reminds us that real change is possible when we rise together—and that each of us has a role to play in ending violence.
