Why Dixon Transition Society is Running for Change at the Vancouver Half Marathon

On June 22, Dixon Transition Society will be lacing up for the Vancouver Half Marathon—not just for the challenge, but for the cause. As a charity partner, we’re running to raise $25,000 in support of women and children fleeing violence. Every dollar raised will help provide safe housing, essential support services, and the resources needed to help survivors rebuild their lives.

A half marathon is more than just a race. It’s a symbol of endurance, resilience, and strength—the same qualities that the women we serve embody every day as they take steps toward safety and independence. Just as a runner must push through obstacles to reach the finish line, survivors of violence navigate barriers in their journey toward healing.

By participating in this event, we’re not only raising funds but also awareness. Domestic violence remains a pressing issue in our community, and through this campaign, we hope to spark conversations, inspire action, and build a network of support that extends beyond race day.
