December 21, 2009Shara, originally from the Middle East, had accepted that married life was not what she had dreamed it would be as a little girl. Constantly berated and emotionally abused by her husband, she endured physical abuse from both her husband and his family. Welcome to “Wenda’s Place”

We’ve excitedly been watching construction progress over the past year and are very pleased to announce that our new Second Stage facility was completed on time and on budget this fall. In recognition of her commitment to the Dixon Society and her tireless support and care for women fleeing violence, we felt the most appropriate choice would be to name the building after Wenda Erickson, the organization’s original executive director. A shorter name and a fresh new look
As you may have noticed when looking at this newsletter, the Dixon Transition Society (formerly Marguerite Dixon Transition Society) has proudly launched its new branding this month. The overall look of the Society hadn’t changed in many years. It was time for an update that not only better reflected who we are today, but will represent us and our services well for a few years to come. (more…)
Dixon Christmas Party
